Make texmaker use dic + aff files on debian 32 bit

I have some problems getting the spellchecker in texmaker to work for the Dutch dictionary, only the 'basic' forms of the words are being corrected for spelling. My system is a tinkerboard S (32 bit) using Armbian (debian) and texlive.

I think this is due to the fact that the aff file is not read within texmaker, which sounds logical since texmaker only allows me to select the the .dic file in the settings.

Since the dic file is being recognized, i think it's safe to assume that the file itself is working.

I've gotten my dictionaries from the following page, according to my understanding these are the correct 'hunspell' dictionaries as prescribed in the texmaker manual.

Hunspell nl_NL

Can anyone please help me to get these dictionaries working please ?

Thank you in advance
