first of all i want to welcome you guys. I am a new ubuntu user, an enthusiast, but not in any way a specialist in sysadmin things. I am currently sitting on 18.04 BB.
I have a problem and i am desperate for your assistance. I wanted to install signal for desktop and i got a line of code from the site to install on debian-like this
Linux install instructions curl -s https://updates.signal.org/desktop/apt/keys.asc | sudo apt-key add - echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://updates.signal.org/desktop/apt xenial main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/signal-xenial.list sudo apt update && sudo apt install signal-desktop
Posting everything didnt do the trick so i posted this separately. Now i have a issue with the update
whathever i want to do i get the same line of code:
E: The "sudo" type is unknown in line 2 of the source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/signal-xenial.list E: The source list could not be read. Go to the configuration of the repositories to fix the problem. E: _cache-> open () failed, please report.
i tried to find solutions online but they want me to use the sources. list and i am not aware of how to navigate there
THanks for the time and help, guys.
PS. I know that this line has been marked as a duplicate but i cant get the grip of the sources.list, its empty and i dont know how to manipulate with it.
