Is there a benefit of having numerical(int) ids when I never use it in queries?

I have an entity where the unique identifier is of the type string, let's say because of requirements this property can't be changed to an int.

I wonder if it would be in my best interest to create an new integer property as the unique identifier. Even though I never use this new field in a query, would the database system still benefit from it?

I'm currently thinking of underlying optimizations that might be impacted.
