Psych! I haven't learned this yet. Maybe you already know how to do this and you can post a solution for all of us? I have this scene I have been working on for a long time:
The door currently uses the same material twice, but I would like to lighten one of them so it looks like the door in this picture:
I don't want to create a new material that uses the same image, just lightened, because that sounds wasteful. This scene is very wasteful already. Because even though I am trying to reuse textures, I think that I have to create a new material every time I swap a single map.
I see this door as a possible opportunity to avoid making a new material, but am not sure how to do that. My current thinking is that there must be a way to lighten the diffuse texture for an instance of a material. How can I do that? Do I use a shader? Please help, I want to finish this project.
